What is the difference between expository and persuasive essay
The essay should be concise. Make your point and conclude your essay. Do not make the mistake of believing that repetition and over-stating your case will score point with your readers. The most important qualities of a persuasive essay are: Have a definite point of view. Use sound reading.
Use solid evidence. Be aware of your intended audience and how to win them over. A writer preparing to start an argumentative essay have to do a lot of research and gather evidence to prove as well as to defend his point. An argumentative essay is biased and subjective, although the writer has to be aware of the opposing views on the subject. This type of essay appeals to the logic and the reasoning. Another vital difference between argumentative and expository essay is that an expository essay always give a balanced account of a subject while an argumentative essay may be unbiased and subjective.
First person point of view is usually used in an argumentative essay I strongly believe, In my opinion, I do not agree with…, etc. Persuasive writing aims to influence views or change behaviors of others, pro or con, usually according to its claim, the thesis; as a result, persuasive writing invariably includes prejudgment and the bias of the writer.
