While studying at the Conservatory of Music at the University of Regina, Jeffery worked with one Frank Crumly, who had been taught by Thomas Manshardt, who previously had been taught by Howard Wells, who was a student of Leschetizky acknowledged as the greatest teacher of all time , who was taught by Czerny who, you guessed it, was taught by Beethoven.

A similar lineage through Manshardt connects Jeffery to Chopin. Quite the piano pedigree. He holds a degree B. Highway 15 is the road that runs past his childhood farm.

He performed in a mountain town in Panama where the venue was a cathedral and the whole first few rows were nuns in habits. This has never yet happened since and it quite possibly never will again. He traveled to Ghana, Africa in Feb and performed a series of 6 shows and conducted songwriting workshops with local musicians and students. Jeffery did some vocal training in Toronto with the talented Elizabeth Davidson. It was a strange awakening. Jeffery has performed in exciting locals such as Ireland, China, and New York.

Fortunately for this jack of all musical trades, his hard work and numerous self-established accomplishments gained the attention of Winnipeg agency, Paquin Entertainment. With everything Jeffery has currently accomplished, it is easy to get swept away with it all and I can assure you there are absolutely no signs of slowing down as he continues to ride these waves of success.

I was excited to talk to Jeffery about the transitions I had noticed throughout the album. While his lyrics and instrumentation play important roles in his songs, there is also an undeniable visual element that shines throughout this album; an element which he has successfully translated through the video medium.

The videos of Jeffery Straker are always exciting and refreshingly different; both in style and content. Filmed in late by Rawfootage Productions Toronto with director Alex Colthart, the video takes place in dirty back alley in Toronto, but stylistically takes a strong visual turn when the alley is suddenly filled with a cast of colourful circus performers and dancers.

He was eager to get a song of my genre into his reel. It was an awesome experience and everyone involved really wanted it to be a success. The cast were all volunteers that we found on craigslist and the piano we used was donated from a listing as well.

The Choreographer was an accomplished dancer from Toronto who happens to be a friend a friend of mine and did it as a favour. Things like that just added up and the results were great. Career Straker independently released his album Songs from Highway 15 in The folk-pop album contains 10 songs inspired by people and places in Saskatchewan. It was recorded live with engineer Brian Moncarz in Toronto. Canadian singer-songwriter Kat Goldman sang backing vocals on the album.
